Corporate History

1940-1960’s
1948 January Chiyoda Kenzai Co., Ltd. founded in Sumiyoshi-cho, Yokkaichi-shi, as a subcontractor for Onoda Cement Co., Ltd. with an initial capital of 198,000 yen. Company begins the manufacture of roofing slates.
1955 April Company comissioned gypsum board manufacturing plant, and initiates production and sales.
1957 April Company name changed to Chiyoda Building Materials Industry Co. Ltd.
1965 January Construction complete at Atsugi Plant.
1970s
1970 July Kaizuka Plant commissioned.
1975 May New Yokkaichi Plant begins operation.
1979 April Construction completed for new nead office building at Yokkaichi Plant.
1980s
1986 May Construction completed at Chiba Plant.
1988 June Tomihisa Hirata nominated as chairman, and Koichi Hirata nominated as company president.
1990s
1990 June Company name changed to Chiyoda Ute Co. Ltd.
1990 October Registered with the Securities Dealers Association of Japan as over-the-counter stocks.
1995 June Haruhisa Hirata nominated as company president.
1997 February Construction completed at Okayama Plant.
1997 March IS9001 certification obtained (registered scope of supply: design, development, and production of various gypsum boards and their installation materials).
1998 January 50th anniversary
1999 March Company took over gypsum board operations from three firms in Adlar Group.
2000s
2004 November Construction completed at Muroran Plant.
2004 December Listed on JASDAQ Securities Exchange.
2006 April Alliance of business and capital with German Knauf group.
2008 January 60th anniversary of company founding. In Yokkaichi Plant, opened a headquarters training center.
2010s
2010 August Kaizuka Plant training center completed.
2010 October Listed on JASDAQ Standard of Osaka Securities Exchange.
